About the game
Wordle is a daily word-guessing puzzle: deduce a hidden five-letter word within six attempts using color feedback on each guess.
How to play
Type a five-letter word. Green means correct letter and position, yellow means correct letter wrong place, gray means absent. Use the clues to refine your next guess.
Tips & strategy
['Open with a word rich in common vowels and consonants.', 'Use second guesses to test new letters, not repeat old ones.', 'Lock greens early and shuffle yellows.']
Advanced guide
Wordle is an information game. Your first two guesses should introduce as many distinct common letters as possible, then let greens and yellows constrain the field. Avoid reusing confirmed-gray letters, and when few candidates remain, guess a word that distinguishes between them.
History & origins
Created by Josh Wardle in 2021, Wordle became a global daily ritual before being acquired by The New York Times.
